Festival time

We have had a better week – whether this is because we are learning to let things wash over us more or because we have been busier and feeling a bit more like we are gainfully employed we are not sure.

So long, farewell

During the last week the cables finally arrived so Drew had the computers networked in no time and the teachers were wowed by a document created on one computer miraculously appearing on the screen of another.

Treats and temples

Yesterday we became the proud owners of Indian tourist visas – this had involved 3 separate visits to the Indian embassy, filling out 4 forms and waiting around for a total of 5 or 6 hours. The process took over a week, and has kept us in Kathmandu longer than we'd have probably stayed otherwise.

Silly signs

This post is just to provide a home for some pictures of silly signs, shop fronts which have amused us, and a couple which are a bit more sinister.

Gorkha

Well, we managed two days without coffee and cakes to take a trip to Gorkha and are now safely back to all these indulgences in Pokhara.

Bats and bicycles

After a pleasant but fairly uneventful day where Drew was tied up with tech support (it's amazing that despite Pokhara being slightly less well connected to the internet than Kathmandu, it is still possible to sit here and fix computers back in the UK remotely!), today we resolved to abstain from the laptop and do some sight-seeing.

We rented bikes for the princely sum of 100 rupees (less than £1) each for the day. You get what you pay for though; on Drew's bike the bell and a pedal both fell off as he was riding – one probably more mission-critical than the other!
